It is used to measure the flank tool wear through the profile analysis. By taking a sequence of indentations in a copper flat it is possible to monitor the tool wear over a period of time. The NewView 6300 allows accurate profiling of the diamond tool and by applying an inspection snap line across the tool indentation using the MetroPro measurement and analysis software the form of the tool, depth and width can be measured on a routine basis.
