Resurfacing Bearing Wear Characterisation

Description: A Zygo GPI was used by the University of Leeds to characterise the pattern of wear on a metal-on-metal resurfacing bearing

Recommended Product: Zygo GPI

The large head and cup are a metal-on-metal resurfacing bearing, which has been tested at Leeds University to assess friction. The smaller head and cup are ceramic bearings, again tested for friction. The friction tests involve unidirectional motion, hence the scratching observed. Testing was carried out as detailed in the abstract Brockett et al, Journal of Biomechanics 2006, Volume 39, Supp 1. S530.
