SVSi release the MAVIS
01 Mar 2005
Southern Vision Systems Inc., a US manufacturer of high-speed machine vision cameras, has announced the introduction of a new product.
MAVIS is a cost effective MAchine VIsion System designed to be an affordable solution for product inspection with various levels of performance. The MAVIS system provides real time image capture and a real time quality plot. It has an adjustable quality threshold setting and produces a log of part or reject count. Other features include internal or external triggering with delay, an image training set stored for diagnostics and an Ethernet or USB-2 interface. Training algorithms are straightforward and user-friendly. Applications will be found in pattern recognition, robotics guidance and navigation, quality assurance or defect characterisation and bar code or data matrix verification.
The MAVIS is available in three models. The MAVIS-10 offers 1024x1024 pattern recognition at 10 frames per second. Unlike other machine vision systems, which slow down when multiple inspection tasks are required (such as object centring, rotation, sizing, or recognition), the MAVIS-100 handles all these at a sustained rate of 100fps. The higher speed MAVIS-1000 is due for release in the next few months.
