Phlox Corp Has Signed An Exclusive Distributor Agreement In The UK And Ireland With Lambda Photometrics

17 May 2005

We are pleased to announce that Lambda has been appointed the exclusive distributor for Phlox in the UK and Ireland. Phlox design and manufacture an impressive range of LED backlights. Using their patent pending technology, they are the most uniform backlights on the market and come in an ultra slim housing only 8.5mm thick.

Phlox was developed in France for the visual communications market, but applications in machine vision, medical and industrial lighting quickly became apparent. Rated to IP-65 the backlights are suitable for use in harsh environments.

The technology is based around the technique of engraving mathematically calculated micro prisms in the PMMA. The LEDs are then precisely positioned to edge-light the material. A combination of these two techniques greatly enhanced the light intensity and uniformity.

The uniformity can be up to +/- 3% and luminance up to 30 000 cd/m2 on custom products. Backlights using red LEDs have a lifetime of 100,000 hours and the white LED 50,000 hours.

Further advantages of this technology are low power consumption, less than 500mA, and heat free operation which increases lifetime. Custom models can be made in any size required.

These backlights out perform fibre optic and standard LED matrix backlights in terms of uniformity, intensity, thickness and lifetime.
