Standard video - Used in applications such as CCTV where good image quality is needed. They are optimised for focusing to infinity and generally C-Mount and CS-Mount.

Macro - Are specifically designed for small fields of view, which are approximately equal to the sensor size. The also have a very good depth of field.

High magnification zoom systems - These systems are used in applications where high magnification inspection is neccessary.

Large format - Are often termed F-Mount, 42mm and 72mm. They are usually used on linescan cameras with large sensors. The lenses have been specifically designed to match the performance abilities of high-end "megapixel" type cameras.

Telecentric - Have a parallel beam path. They are the only choice for applications requiring accurate measurement of three-dimensional objects with height variation.

SLR Lenses - F-Mount lenses from Zeiss provide excellent image quality and allow manual aperture control. These high quality lenses are well suited to high speed video and High MegaPixel imaging. Ruggedised screw lock and IR versions are now avaialable for demanding industrial applications.
