Fibre Optics

We have been a supplier of Fibre Optic test equipment and components since 1981, and during this time we have supplied a wide range of Fibre Optic products to all of the major UK production and R & D sites, including most Universities and all of the major installers in the UK.

We currently offer a broad range of Test and Measurement equipment in addition to a range of active and passive components. Our test equipment includes light sources and power meters, a non-contact interferometer for checking ferrules, ferrule blanks, connector assemblies, pigtails, patchcords, and optical fiber cleaves. We also have a high resolution Optical Backscatter Reflectometer and an Optical Vector Analyzer in our portfolio together with various instruments for making polarisation measurements as well as controlling polarisation.


Greenlee

Lambda is pleased to announce a new range of low cost, hand-held, Fibre Test Instrumentation from Greenlee, a Textron Company.

These include an InGaAs power meter, the 560XL, with a range of -3dBm to -60dBm, a dual wavelength LED source, the 570XL, with -13dBm output at 850nm and -20dBm output at 1300nm and dual wavelength laser source, the 580XL, with a minimum output of -8dBm at 1310 and 1550nm. Also a visual fault locator, the 170XL with a 3km range.

New: LUNA Technologies

In 2005 Lambda became the sole UK and Ireland Distributor for Luna Technologies of Blacksburg, Virginia. Using technology that was developed at NASA, LUNA are offering an Optical Vector Analyzer (OVA) and an Optical Backscatter Reflectometer (OBR).

Luna Technologies Optical Vector Analyzer

The LUNA OBR is a highly sensitive frequency-domain reflectometer offering unprecedented diagnostic capabilities to designers and manufacturers of Fibre-optic components and assemblies. The OBR uses swept-wavelength coherent interferometry to measure minute reflections in an optical system as a function of length with a spatial resolution down to 10 microns.

The LUNA OVA is the fastest, most accurate and economical tool for loss, dispersion and polarization measurements of modern optical networking equipment including fibre Bragg gratings, arrayed waveguide gratings, free-space filters, tunable devices, amplifiers, couplers and specialty fibre.
