Custom Optics

ZYGO's Optics group is renowned for its precision plano and spherical surface fabrication of optics and other components ranging in size from 8 mm to more than 1 meter. They produce a wide range of world-class optical components including L-mirrors, monolithic stages, and straightedges. Their integrated assembly capability provides kinematic mounting, beam-steering flexures, and state-of-the-art metrology to ensure alignment and performance of your specific solution.

Providing complete precision surface fabrication capability, ZYGO uses the latest and most sophisticated CNC equipment together with conventional production processes. Operations include: machining, shaping, generating, grinding, and edging to produce flats, windows, mirrors, spheres, lenses, corner cubes, prisms, and many other shapes.

Regardless of their size or shape, all components have extremely precise geometries and surface flatness. Surfaces can be better than λ/50-wave (12 nm), with less than one angstrom rms surface roughness. Angle tolerances can be held to 0.1 arc second.

Zygo Optical Coating

Zygo Advanced Thin Films can provide design, prototyping, and volume production of optical thin films to support your product demands. From sophisticated bandpass filters, to low-stress metal films for high-accuracy mirrors, Zygo can provide the complete solution.They can provide coatings on optics ranging in size from 1 mm to 600 mm, and wavelengths from 200 nm through 2000 nm. Zygo also provides standard and customized coated optics such as beamsplitters, waveplates, filters, prisms, and prism assemblies.

Interferometric surface and wavefront analysis may be provided before and after coating to help manage the total optical performance of your components. ZYGO has employed these techniques for years to manage stress in films, and maximize the optical performance of coated optics.
