RLD3 - Monster Series Ring Light with Integral Driver

Monster Series Ring Light

Spectrum Illumination Monster Series Ring Light with Integral Driver can be used for both bright field and dark field illumination. The RLD3 was designed for use in applications that demand a substantial amount of light and can be mounted 6” (152.4mm) to 6’ (1828.8mm) from the area of interest. LED optics and diffuser options are also available on these lights that make it possible to obtain longer working distances and/or smaller coverage areas. The RLD3 is available in a 60mm x 68mm light pattern with a 35.5mm viewing port.

Every light is designed in a heavy duty industrial enclosure. The RLD3 was designed to fit the PPT A10 or A20 image sensors. Spectrum Illumination is now making this light available to all of our distributors. The incorporated driver has all of the latest features that include Burst (2 millisecond duration high output pulse then drops to normal intensity), PNP and NPN strobe inputs, variable potentiometer control and 0-10VDC analogue control (no need to connect voltage to analogue input for full intensity). The RLD3 is supplied with a 4 meter 5 pin Eurofast quick disconnect cable.

Dome

DL - Monster Series Dome Lights

Monster Series Dome Light

Spectrum Illumination Monster Series Dome Lights are the largest standard product dome lights in the Machine Vision Lighting Market. We have standard sizes from 7.25", 12.25" and 18.25" up to 29.25" (743mm) diameter. Monster Dome Lights leverage our Monster LEDs to provide the most light possible for your image acquisition needs. Dome Lights are used to create even lighting on shiny or uneven surfaces. Dome Lights are built using a moulded fibreglass hemisphere to reflect multi angle light onto the field of view.

Because the light is coming from multiple angles, the image from a shiny or uneven surface will not have any hotspots or shadows. Every light is designed in a heavy duty industrial enclosure. Monster Dome Lights can also be used with Monster Diffused Axial Lights to eliminate the appearance of the camera viewing port of the dome on mirrored surfaces. The Monster Dome Lights are supplied with our DIN rail mount 24 volt DC High Speed LDM (LED Driver Module) Adapter and a 4 meter 5 pin reverse keyed M12 Eurofast quick disconnect cable.

Monster Series Dome Light
The LDM Adapter has both PNP and NPN strobe inputs with a 3 microsecond response time and is also available with an optional variable potentiometer control or 0-10VDC analogue control.

Monster Series Dome Light High Power Option

Monster Dome Lights are also available in a high output version. These are the brightest Dome Lights in the Machine Vision Industry. This model can be run continuous but we recommend a 50% duty cycle to extend the life of the LEDs.

Linear

E - Series

Monster Series Linear Light

Spectrum Illumination E-Series Bar Lights are used for both bright field and dark field illumination. The E-Series lights have a potentiometer for manual intensity adjustment. They have both a PNP or a NPN input for strobing the lights. The strobe inputs are pulse width controlled from an external device (usually a PLC, Industrial PC or Smart camera). Either input can be connected for the light to run in continuous mode. E-Series lights have a 0-10VDC analogue input for intensity control. The analogue input is revolutionary because it works using reverse logic.

0VDC is 100% intensity and 10VDC is 0% intensity. An analogue input signal is not required to achieve 100% light output.

E-Series lights run on standard 24VDC industrial power supplies. E-Series lights incorporate our patent pending Micro Driver with burst. No external driver, overdrive controller or single purpose overdrive light is needed. E-Series lights are configured with the highest output LED's available. E-Series lights have an auto resetting circuit built in to protect the LEDs against damaging over temperature environments and situations (exceeding the burst duty cycle specifications).

E-Series lights are configured to overdrive the LEDs. The burst mode can be disabled by a dip switch. When either strobe input is enabled the burst circuit will overdrive the LEDs for 500 microseconds before dropping to a safe continuous current for the LEDs.

E-Series lights utilize Spectrum Illumination's new patent pending Aluminium Single Interface Housing. We have eliminated the extra enclosure components by forming the thermally conductive housing from the aluminium circuit board. The cost savings and performance benefits are the result of this revolutionary design. E-Series lights are available in 150mm, 300mm and (2x) 150mm sizes.

Linear

Spectrum Illumination Monster Series Linear Lights are used for both bright field and dark field illumination. Monster Series Linear Lights are built using Modular Board Technology (MBT). The reason that MBT is important is that when the boards are assembled in the housing, the LED spacing is the same on a single board as it is from board to board. The result of MBT is even illumination over the length of the light (connecting lights together create dead spots between lights because LED spacing is not observed). The Monster Series Linear Light was designed to be used for applications requiring a large area of coverage and/or a long working distance. Typically they are used in applications that demand a lot of light and can be mounted 12" (304.8mm) to 20' (6,096mm) from the desired area of interest. LED optics and diffuser options are also available on these lights that make it possible to obtain closer working distances and/or larger coverage areas. Every light is designed in a heavy duty industrial enclosure. Monster Series Linear Lights can be purchased in standard lengths starting at 2" (50.8mm) 1" x 2", 1" x 4", 1" x 6", 1" x 11.5", 1" x 23", 1" x 34.5", 1" x 57.5" up to 80.5" (2,044.7mm) and 2" x 2" and 2" x 6" sizes with longer lengths available upon request. Monster Linear Lights are supplied with our DIN rail mount 24 volt DC High Speed LDM (LED Driver Module) Adapter and a 4 meter 5 pin reverse keyed M12 Eurofast quick disconnect cable. The LDM Adapter has both PNP and NPN strobe inputs with a 3 microsecond response time and is also available with an optional variable potentiometer control or 0-10VDC analogue control.

Monster Series Linear Light High Power Option

Monster Linear Lights are also available in a high output version (call for model part number). These Linear Lights are the brightest in the Machine Vision Industry. These lights are the standard for several prominent theme parks and they are used to replace Xenon Strobes for computer image manipulation. This version is housed in a heat sink extrusion and is protected against over-temperature with an automatic thermal overload cut out. This model can run continuous but we recommend a 50% duty cycle to extend the life of the LEDs.

Spot

SP - Monster Series

Monster Series Spot Light

Spectrum Illumination Monster Series Spot Lights are used for both bright field and dark field illumination. The Monster Series Spot Light was designed to be used for applications requiring a large area of coverage and/or a long working distance. Typically, they are used in applications that need a lot of light and can be mounted 12" (304.8mm) to 20' (6,096mm) from the desired area of interest. Back

MBL - Monster Series

Monster Series Back Light

Spectrum Illumination Monster Series Back Lights are designed to create high contrast silhouettes for high speed Machine Vision Applications. Monster Series Back Lights can also be used to create diffused front lighting because of the high intensity of the LEDs. The Monster Series Back Lights are 5 - 10 times brighter than standard back lights depending on the color. They have been used in high speed bottling and canning operations as diffused front lights with complete success.

Sizes currently available include 1" x 2", 1" x 4", 2" x 2", 4" x 4" and 4" x 8" but all Monster Series lights (Spot Lights, Ring Lights, Linear Lights or Washdown Series lights) can be ordered with the option by adding "MB" to the front of the part number. Every Light is designed in a heavy duty industrial enclosure. Monster Series Back Lights use a specially designed optic that disperses the light intensity evenly. When viewing the light without the diffuser the individual LEDs actually look brighter from an angle view than it does looking straight on. This is why there are no hot spots and is what makes the Monster Series Back Light superior to other LED back lights. Monster Series Back Lights are supplied with our DIN rail mount 24 volt DC High Speed LDM (LED Driver Module) Adapter and 4 meter 5 pin reverse keyed M12 Eurofast quick disconnect cable. The LDM Adapter has both PNP and NPN strobe inputs with a 3 microsecond response time and is also available with an optional variable potentiometer control or 0-10VDC analogue control.

Controllers

Monster Series Controllers

In 2001 at Spectrum Illumination we identified the need for a current regulating LED Driver to run High Flux LEDs for the Machine Vision Industry. At that time we didn’t see any cost affective, stable or reliable options available. We realised that the future of Machine Vision Lighting would move towards High Flux LEDs if a solution was available. Our engineering staff started development on the first current regulating driver specifically designed to run High Flux LEDs for the Machine Vision Industry.

The challenges that we faced during the design involved making the unit compact, affordable, repeatable and reliable. Our feeling was that the unit needed to employ industry standard DIN rail mounting and because electrical panel space is a premium the unit needed to be compact.

We also felt that the unit needed to be included with our lights as a package without adding significant cost to the end user. The driver also needed to be repeatable so that every time the unit was pulsed the current output did not change even on demanding high speed applications. The final and maybe most important thing was that the driver needed to be reliable so that it would outlast the LED light. The LDM Adapter was released in 2002 meeting all the standards that we had set out to achieve. Since the LDM’s release, significant advances in efficiency and strobe response time have been improved. We have since released the ALDM (analogue) Adapter for users requiring intensity changes via analogue control and our VLDM (variable) Adapter for manual control via potentiometer. The ALDM and VLDM Adapters are designed based on the proven LDM Adapter platform. The latest release (Revision H) was designed to integrate directly with our Ethernet based Monster Brain Controller (MBC). Advanced communication, pulse timing and intensity control can be achieved utilising the MBC Ethernet controller. Our Controllers are simply the best High Flux LED drivers in the Machine Vision Industry.
