The OVA™5000 is the fastest, most accurate and economical tool for loss, dispersion and polarisation measurements of modern optical components, assemblies and equipment.

It is the ideal tool for single connection, all-parameter optical component characterisation of fibre components, couplers, speciality fibers, Fibre Bragg Gratings, arrayed waveguide gratings (AWG’s), Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs), free-space optical filters, tuneable devices, optical amplifiers, dispersion compensators, and other passive optical components.

Based on Luna's patented technique, the OVA™ allows direct measurement of an optical device's linear transfer function to provide complete passive component characterisation in a single scan of a tuneable laser.

The OVA supports analysis of:

  • Insertion Loss (IL)
  • Polarisation Dependent Loss (PDL)
  • Polarisation Mode Dispersion (PMD) and 2nd order PMD
  • Chromatic Dispersion (CD)
  • Group Delay (GD)
  • Optical Time Domain Response

All the above is measured in a single scan, thus greatly saving time and money, thereby improving efficiency in every scenario.

Desktop Analysis This software provides all the benefits of OVA analysis without the instrument. Save data files from your OVA measurements, share them with your customers, work on them from your desk or on vacation - anywhere that you have a computer with desktop analysis software!
Polarisation Analysis Combined with measurements from the Optical Vector Analyser, this software provides a complete picture of your component's polarisation dependence. Save time in calculations and measurements by simulating the input polarisation state and viewing the component's response.

1 Accuracy maintained by an internal NIST-traceable HCN gas cell.
2 80, 60 and 50 dB dynamic ranges in ‘Averaging Mode’ for IL, GD and PMD are with the “High Dynamic Range Averaging” option installed and enabled.
