We would like to invite you to the upcoming ‘Building Blocks for Nanotechnology from Spark Ablation Webinar’, presented by Prof. Dr. Andreas Schmidt Ott.
Materials and devices exploiting size effects below 20 nm are highly likely to enable important innovations in the near future. Such innovations are emerging in highly topical and important areas including energy conversion and storage, catalysis, and chemical sensors. For example, nanoparticle substrates produced using spark ablation look likely to become “state-of-the-art” for Surface Enhanced Raman Scattering (SERS) because they are clean and can be adapted to the substance under investigation with high sensitivity. For all these applications, the capability of mixing “anything with anything” on the nanoscale or the atomic scale (e.g. high entropy alloys) enables a wealth of new material properties; tunable by size, composition and structure.
VSPARTICLE has been developing a lab-scale nanoparticle source based on spark ablation technology; the VSP-G1 Nanoparticle Generator, which was pioneered by co-founder, Andreas Schmidt-Ott. The spark ablation process used inside the VSP-G1 is a purely physical process requiring only electricity, a carrier gas and electrode material to produce clean nanoparticles.
This webinar discusses spark ablation as a source of sub 20nm diameter nanoparticulate building blocks. The principle of spark ablation will be explained and a series of application examples will demonstrate the scalable generation of nanoparticles using this new research instrument.
All are welcome to attend and learn more about this exciting technology:
